American Chinese Leadership Development Program Attended by Aventure
Aventure Aviation is supporting the North American Chinese Association (NACA) as a mentor for their leadership development program. A corporate member of the Atlanta Regional Chapter, Aventure attended the mentoring kick-off session this past April. NACA mentors generally consist of middle to senior level managers, executives, or leaders from major corporations and firms in the Atlanta area. They are carefully selected and have diverse backgrounds. As part of its mission to build the next generation of leaders, NACA launched its formal mentoring program to help young Asian-American professionals acquire greater skills, build lasting social networks, and integrate within mainstream American culture as they launch their professional careers in the United States. Future African Leaders of Mandela Fellowship Learn from Aventure Aviation
The president of Aventure Aviation, Zaheer Faruqi, spoke to recipients of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders at a "Lunch N Learn" session held July 2 at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Faruqi discussed Aventure’s path to entrepreneurship, its growth, experience on the African continent, and lessons learned. The Fellows, aged between 25 and 35, have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and have had a positive impact in their organizations, institutions, communities, and countries. This was the fifth consecutive year the University hosted the fellows. The first four classes represented all 49 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. This year, the Fellowship will provide up to 700 outstanding young leaders with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution and have professional development support after they return home.
Talha Faruqi is Vice President of Aventure Aviation and has fifteen years experience in the aviation industry. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of the company, acquisitions of airplanes for dismantling, and consignment agreements with airlines. He also handles negotiations with financial institutions, leasing companies, and MROs. Talha graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Applied Mathematics and International Affairs. He joined Aventure while still in University. Starting in the warehouse, he later moved into sales where he learned two important lessons: "Don′t fall in love with your inventory" and "Be good to everyone you interact with." He feels blessed to be part of this iconic industry and how it has enabled him to meet people from all over the world. Talha is a board member of GAMVP, a non-partisan voting and civic engagement non-profit. He is a member of the Vistage executive professional group, and mentors youth for the MIST interscholastic competition program. He is married and has two daughters.
