National Aviation History Month Celebrated November is National Aviation History Month, which is dedicated to exploring, recognizing and celebrating America's contributions and achievements in the development of aviation. Aviation history refers to the development of mechanical flight. This started several thousand years ago with the earliest attempts with kites and gliders, to powered heavier-than-air, supersonic, and space flights. In 1903, the Wright brothers successfully piloted the first powered airplane, ushering in the birth of the aviation parts industry. In 1913, Ford Motor Company devised a method of mass-producing airplanes using techniques they invented for automobiles. In 2001, Aventure Aviation was founded, drawing inspiration from industry pioneers. "It's truly beautiful how so many dedicated people all over the world have brought us to where we are now in aviation history," said Chelsea Sneed, Aventure's Office Manager.
