February 2022 – The Newsletter of Aventure Aviation Aventure Acquires First Boeing 737 Airframe for 2022 Aventure Aviation has acquired a Boeing 737-900 airframe, MSN 29988. High demand parts will be harvested by Ascent MRO in Tucson, Arizona, USA. The removed parts will be relocated to Aventure's Atlanta warehouse, and refurbished prior to sale. A notable feature includes a cockpit head-up display. The aircraft flew its entire life with Korean Air, and has excellent maintenance records. In 2021, Korean Air was named Airline of the Year by Air Transport World, while Chairman and CEO Walter Cho was named Person of the Year by Orient Aviation. This is the first 737 obtained in 2022, and Aventure's first ever 737-900 variation. Last year, Aventure acquired six other Boeing 737NG models, providing fresh inventory for customers. "We look forward to collaborating with more airlines and leasing companies in finding solutions for end-of-life and retired aircraft assets," said Aventure Aviation President Talha Faruqi. "We have capital, asset management expertise and can offer options for outright purchase or material consignments for asset owners." Aventure is considering the acquisition of several other Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Bombardier aircraft, focusing on end-of-life aircraft for dismantling and conversion. Remembering Pioneering Atlanta Mayor During Black History Month For Black History Month, we look at the contributions of the late mayor of Atlanta, Maynard H. Jackson, a namesake of Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Mayor Jackson was instrumental in shaping the hometown airport of Aventure Aviation into the world's busiest. The airport is named after two influential Atlanta mayors. First, to honor Mayor William B. Hartsfield (in office 1942–1962) after his death in 1971. Then, to honor Mayor Maynard Jackson (in office 1974–1982), after his death in 2003. Born into a family that valued education and political activism, Mayor Jackson became the first Black mayor of Atlanta when elected at the age of 35. One of his major achievements was to modernize and expand the Atlanta airport into a major transportation hub, "ahead of schedule and under budget." A plaque at the airport honoring Jackson reads: "As Atlanta's first African-American mayor, he worked to ensure equal opportunity for all to participate in the city's growth and prosperity. That he was instrumental in the expansion of the airport and its transformation into the world's busiest, in acknowledgment of his love of and commitment to our city, this airport shall be known as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport." Aventure Celebrates Lunar New Year Aventure joins those celebrating the Chinese New Year, also known around the world as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year. The holiday is among the most important in China. 2022 marks the year of the Tiger, a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness. In anticipation of the holiday, most people working in large urban areas return to their hometowns. "Cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, become relatively empty, and the former bad traffic disappears!," said Liu (Jason) Guibin, Aventure's Beijing-based Customer Support Manager for China. "We attach color paper, called duilian, on our front door. For New Year's Eve, our family and most others celebrate with a long, festive dinner. Afterwards, many will play Mahjong, or shoot fireworks. Most families will watch the CCTV New Year's Gala on TV until the early hours of the next morning," Jason added.
