March 2022 – The Newsletter of Aventure Aviation Aventure Acquires Second COPA Airlines 737NG for Teardown
Aventure Aviation has acquired a second Boeing 737NG, MSN 30460, recently retired by Copa Airlines. The teardown is currently underway in Roswell, New Mexico. Components include the landing gear set, APU, and various ATA chapter parts. Aventure's first Copa Airlines 737NG was acquired in 2021. Aventure is in active discussions with owners, financial institutions, lessors, and airlines to find revenue-generating teardown solutions for idle aircraft. Talks have increased due to the amount of early lease returns from Russia and conflict zones. "Our teardowns have a proven track record because of our efficient handling of the entire process from start to finish," said Sales Director Andrew Crombie. "We have received much interest from owners facing the never-ending costs of keeping aircraft parked with recurring maintenance, insurance, and parking fees," said Talha Faruqi, President of Aventure. "Our ability to offer immediate purchase or consignment options are valued by our clients." Aventure will be available to discuss options at the ISTAT (International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading) Americas conference to be held March 6–8 in San Diego. Aventure CEO to be Keynote Speaker at NASBITE Conference Aventure Aviation CEO Zaheer Faruqi will be the keynote speaker at the 2022 NASBITE International Annual Conference, to be held virtually March 29–31. His presentation "Strategies for Recovery & Expanding International Sales in 2022" will cover how Aventure has survived and prospered during the pandemic. The dire circumstances created by COVID-19 initially saw the aviation industry almost disappear. Zaheer will explain how Aventure took steps to diversify its business, create synergies with other companies, and redirect team members to support new product lines with strong demand. These strategies ultimately led to increasing revenue streams in 2021, and provided a solid foundation for the company in 2022. This is the 35th annual conference of the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE). They are a leading authority for global business education, trade credentialing, training and practice. Pioneering Aviator Remembered During Women’s History Month
March is Women's History Month, and we honor Harriet Quimby, a pioneering aviator who paved the way for future women pilots. Born in Michigan on May 11, 1875, Quimby would become a journalist and attend her first airshow in 1910. The following year, she became the first American woman to earn a pilot's license. Her flights received a lot of press attention, and she built on her notoriety by joining an aviation exhibition team. Quimby became the first woman to pilot an aircraft across the English Channel on April 16, 1912. Her accomplishment received little attention, as the media was focused on the sinking of the Titanic the day before. Ten weeks later, disaster struck during an aviation meet in Massachusetts. Her brand-new Bleriot monoplane unexpectedly pitched forward for unknown reasons, and she and a passenger fell to their deaths. Quimby was only 37 years old. Quimby was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Long Island Air and Space Hall of Fame in 2012.
