Aventure Aviation will attend the 2023 Air Carriers Purchasing Conference (ACPC), taking place August 19–22, at the New York Marriott Marquis, in New York City's Times Square.

Representing Aventure will be vice president of sales Ebrahim Zakaria, sales director Andrew Crombie, and director of strategic accounts Kevin Lang.

"We look forward to seeing many of our airline customers under one roof," said Kevin. "Not to mention discussing with vendors and MRO shops the opportunities for them of refurbishing our recent Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG teardown components."

Founded in 1956 by regional airlines, the annual conference has grown into a keystone event for the aviation industry. Aventure has attended every year since the company's founding in 2001.

ACPC brings together buyers and sellers of aviation goods and services, and offers aviation professionals networking opportunities with an extensive business and social agenda.

Aventure Aviation addressed attendees of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 5.

The fellowship is YALI's flagship program, which empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and local community engagement.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Clark Atlanta University hosted 25 YALI participants representing 18 African countries, for a six-week intensive Leadership Institute.

Aventure CEO Zaheer Faruqi gave the event's keynote speech, where he provided valuable tips on how to conduct international business and access more consumers.

"The program to me means that I get the opportunity to grow and to learn from the people that I consider to be the greatest in the business," said Rachel Sangara, a YALI member from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Aventure Aviation was a sponsor and participant at the 2023 Alaska Airlines Employee Assistance Fund (EAF) Auction & Golf Tournament. The event was held July 21 at The Golf Club at Newcastle, in Newcastle, Washington state.

Attending on behalf of Aventure was vice president of sales Ebrahim Zakaria, and sales director Andrew Crombie.

The EAF is a non-profit organization made up of employee volunteers who represent all divisions of Alaska Airlines.

The assistance fund was created in 1992 by Alaska Airlines Captain Al Brunelle. He aimed to aid co-workers facing financial difficulties from medical emergencies or catastrophic events.

"It was our pleasure to be a sponsor for such a worthy event," said Ebrahim. "We appreciate the opportunity to give back to our colleagues at Alaska Airlines and enjoyed a weekend of golfing, great food, and forging relationships."

Paris Air Show Returns for 2023

Aventure Aviation attended the Paris Air Show, which was held June 19–25 at France's Paris–Le Bourget Airport.

First held in 1909, the biannual event has grown into the largest air show and aerospace exhibition in the world.

The most recent edition included 2,498 exhibitors from 48 countries, and 127,312 trade visitors. They conducted $150 billion in deals, including the sale of 1,300 aircraft.

Due to the pandemic, this was the first show since 2019.

"It was exciting to attend after a four-year hiatus," said Ron Taylo, Aventure's operations manager for military sales. "Aviation is back on track for growth, and poised for a prosperous future."

Honoring U.S. Airborne Forces for National Airborne Day

Several paratroopers glide with chutes open through a cloudy sky

Aventure honors U.S. airborne forces by celebrating National Airborne Day on August 16. This day commemorates the first official U.S. military parachute jump, which took place in 1940 in Aventure's home state of Georgia at Fort Benning.

The jump was performed by volunteers from the 29th Infantry Regiment, who became the 48 members of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon.

More than 100,000 paratroopers were formed and assigned to airborne divisions during World War II. Pivotal to US military operations, they fought in key battles such as Arnhem, Salerno, Sicily, and D-Day, often behind enemy lines.

The US military would add airborne forces to the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy, where they would see action in Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

"As we commemorate National Airborne Day, let us pay tribute to the spirit of the U.S. airborne forces and honor the pioneers who took that historic leap 83 years ago," said Ron Taylo, Aventure's operations manager for military sales.
