Inc. magazine recently announced that Aventure Aviation has earned a spot on the 2024 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. This marks the second consecutive year this decade that Aventure made the list.

This ranking provides a data-driven look at the most successful companies within its independent, entrepreneurial businesses. Companies are ranked according to the percentage growth of their annual revenue over a three-year period.

This year, Aventure ranked 2,193 on the Inc. 5000 list with a 3-year growth of 238%, moving up more than 1,300 spots from its 2023 placement of 3,536. Aventure previously achieved Inc. 5000 status for four consecutive years from 2011–2014.

"This is your sixth time on the Inc. 5000, which is a remarkable accomplishment," said Inc. Editor-in-Chief Mike Hofman. "Making the list year after year gets harder as your base revenue increases. Of the tens of thousands of companies that have applied…only a select group have made the list more than once. Only two and a half percent have made the list 6 times."

Felix Rigau Carrera Honored for Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is held from September 15 to October 15, and Aventure is proud to honor the legacy and impact of Felix Rigau Carrera, the first Puerto Rican pilot.

He was born and raised in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, and grew up with an interest in mechanics and aviation from an early age.

After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, Rigau Carrera enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he would become a pilot. He continued flight training in Seattle and Minneapolis following his discharge, and enlisted in the U.S. Marines during World War I.

He saw action in France, where he became both the first Puerto Rican to operate a fixed-wing aircraft and the first Hispanic-American fighter pilot of the U.S. Marines.

After the war, Rigau Carrera bought his own airplane, and became the first Puerto Rican to pilot a plane over his home island. He returned to the U.S. in the 1930s, settling in Virginia.

Rigau Carrera's achievements paved the way for future generations of Hispanic Americans in aviation and beyond.

International Day of the Air Traffic Controller Celebrated

Three air traffic controllers viewing their computer monitors while viewing airplanes from the control tower

International Day of the Air Traffic Controller takes place October 20, and honors those who ensure that air travel remains the safest mode of transport.

The history of the air traffic controller dates back to February 25, 1920, with the world's first air traffic control tower at London's Croydon Airport. The airport, then the world's busiest, needed to regulate aircraft taking off and landing. The tower allowed coordination using visual signals and radio communication.

World War II helped evolve air traffic control with the use of radar. This let controllers monitor the position of military aircraft in real time. After the war, the technology was integrated into civilian air traffic control systems all over the world.

Over the next few decades the role of the air traffic controller would increase along with the growth of commercial aviation.

Every day, air traffic controllers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of aviation operations.
