Meet Aventure at any of these events > Contrails Debuts 15 Years Ago
This month marks the 15th anniversary of Aventure's Contrails newsletter. Debuting February 2011, the monthly e-newsletter features Aventure news, trade show participation, community happenings, as well as historical events in aviation. Aventure also celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The word contrails is short for "condensation trails," also known as vapor trails. These line-shaped clouds are formed by aircraft engine exhaust or changes in air pressure, typically at cruising altitudes miles above the Earth's surface. The debut issue of Contrails was designed to be read on a full size computer monitor, and featured a three-column layout that mimicked a printed newsletter. The eventual popularity of mobile devices would lead to a more streamlined one-column approach. First Issue of Contrails (February 2011) > Major Solar Investment Made for Aventure's New Warehouse
Aventure recently installed a solar photovoltaic system on its new facilities in Peachtree City, Georgia. The solar system, made in the neighboring state of South Carolina, is composed of 66 Silfab 440watt solar panels. It was installed on the roof of Aventure's recently completed 68,890 square foot warehouse. The solar energy production will help offset the equivalency of 26,456 pounds of coal burned at a power plant, 60,652 miles driven by a passenger vehicle, 8.4 tons of waste diverted from a landfill and the carbon sequestered by 24 acres of forestland. "The 29.04kW capacity solar system will produce 36,772 kilowatt hours in the first year, providing approximately $7,556 in annual savings," said Nick Safay of Boss Energy LLC, who provided the turnkey installation of the solar project. There are also two Tesla Powerwall 3.0 batteries to provide backup power to keep the building's exterior lighting on during power outages. Aventure also has four Tesla car charging stations available for customers and team members. "We are constantly looking for more ways to go green," said Aventure marketing associate Michael Griffiths Jr. Barrington Irving Recognized for Black History Month
Barrington Irving at a Miami speaking engagement in 2008. For Black History Month, Aventure recognizes Barrington Irving. He was the first Black pilot to fly solo around the world, and the youngest person to do so at the time. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, on November 11, 1983, Irving moved to Miami, Florida at six. At 15, he met Captain Gary Robinson, a Jamaican United Airlines Pilot that sparked his passion for flight. He graduated from Florida Memorial University with a Bachelor's in Aeronautical Science. On March 23, 2007, Irving embarked from Miami on his historic flight in a single-engine Columbia 400 named Inspiration. He dealt with tumultuous conditions such as flying through storm clouds, a sand storm in Saudi Arabia, and nearly running out of fuel while crossing from Japan to Alaska. Despite the challenges, he arrived back in Miami on June 27, competing the 24,600-mile circumnavigation in 97 days and 145 flight hours. After the flight, Irving started programs that invest in and aid young professionals in STEM+ and aviation careers. Today, Irving still inspires many with his work, and assisted with Hurricane Melissa relief efforts in November 2025 by delivering 50,000 pounds of essential supplies to Jamaica. Barrington Irving's journey is a testament to perseverance, purpose, and the power of believing beyond perceived limits. Year of the Fire Horse Celebrated
Aventure joins those around the world celebrating the Chinese New Year, which starts February 17. Also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse. The element fire represents unstoppable energy, while the horse represents action, freedom, energy, and independence. Fire amplifies the horse's natural vitality, leading to boldness, ambition, and a drive for progress. The year of the horse takes place every 12 years following the zodiac cycle. However, the fire horse year takes place just once every six decades, with the last taking place in 1966. In years past, Aventure hosted a Chinese cuisine luncheon at its Atlanta headquarters, offering staff the opportunity to learn more about Asian cultures from colleagues of Asian heritage.
